My company does a lot of work for the Broadmoor neighborhood here in New Orleans. The Keller library has been an anchor for the neighborhood that has been in the process of being rebuilt for the almost seven years since Katrina. They added an awesome modern addition for the library use and converted to historic portion into community space for meetings, classes and social use.
There is even a coffee shop called the Green Dot Cafe – in reference to the fact the first recovery plan set out by our former mayor’s confidants designated Broadmoor to be bulldozed and turned into green space, represented by a big green dot on the city map.
I attended the ribbon cutting with all the politicos and funders.
It was so heartwarming to see all of the neighbors gather to celebrate the reopening of their anchor – their library.
